Watch Grover Norquist explain how the current recession is a result of the Democrats taking control of the Senate in 2006. This caused a recession because everyone knew that the Democratic takeover meant that higher taxes were on the way in 2010.
The logic is so flawless it's stunning.
cerb says:
This is what happens when you believe all the shit you were taught in Econ 101 and 102.
Batocchio says:
I think one can count the number of intelligent conservatives arguing on TV in good faith on one hand. It's a bit academic as to what the mix is of stupidity to dissembling for the rest.
Here's one of my favorite Norquist pronouncements, "The Democratic Party is Toast" from September 2004:
The modern Democratic Party cannot survive the reelection of President George W. Bush and another four years of Republican control of both Congress and the White House.
No brag. Just fact.
And this era of bipartisanship, let's recall that Norquist still seeks to drown government in a bathtub, and both he and his close pal Karl Rove have long worked for the destruction or permanent marginalization of the Democratic Party, and by extension, their constituents.
